Help them learn to control their skis. Have fun teaching them.

Introducing Slope Ropes—the easiest way kids learn to ski. A simple, harness-free design that lets you give your child as much or as little guidance as they need while encouraging proper posture.

  • Simple: Nothing strapped to your child. No harness to fit, buckles to fasten or straps to adjust.
  • Proper posture: Encourages a balanced skiing stance—nose over knees over toes.
  • Gentle guidance: One-handed guidance for turning and slowing while your child learns.
  • Fun: Colourful handles and a playful design that feels more like a toy than a training tool.
  • Versatile: Switch from guiding on the slope to towing across the flats.

Developed by a certified CSIA ski instructor—and dad.

A simple alternative to a kids ski harness

Looking for a kids ski harness? Slope Ropes offer another way to teach them to ski—with nothing strapped to your child, no buckles to fasten and no harness to adjust.

Give them gentle, one-handed guidance while encouraging proper posture and balance. Start with more support, then ease the pressure as their confidence grows, helping them learn to control their own skis.

A few things parents ask

Is my child ready for Slope Ropes?

Children develop at different rates, so there isn’t one fixed starting age. Your child should be able to stand comfortably and carry their own weight. The comfort and skiing ability of the adult helping them also matter.

How does it work?

One handle sits at your child’s hips, encouraging bent knees and an athletic skiing stance. You ski behind them holding the other handle, gently twisting it from side to side to guide turns and helping manage their speed. As they become more confident, use less pressure so they increasingly turn for themselves.

Does it attach to my child?

No. Nothing is strapped or clipped to your child. With their knees bent and hips back, the handle sits naturally at their hips. That means no harness to put on or take off between runs.

Can we use it alongside ski lessons?

Yes. Lessons with a trained instructor are invaluable. Slope Ropes can help you enjoy skiing together after lessons, while encouraging your child to carry their own weight and practise the skills they are learning.

What do we do at the flats and the lift?

Switch to towing mode to help your child across flat terrain. At the lift, fold the ropes to tuck them into a jacket or cargo pocket, or carry them over your shoulder. Nothing remains strapped to your child.
